Reliable Fixes with a Clean Finish
A good plaster repair isn’t just about filling a hole—it’s about making the wall or ceiling look and feel like new again. That means taking the time to assess what caused the damage, preparing the area properly, and using the right materials to create a solid, seamless finish. We repair everything from cornices and corners to patches in ceilings, with the right blend of patience and technique to avoid lumps, cracks, or mismatched textures. Once we’re done, the surface will be smooth and paint-ready, saving you the hassle of fixing it later.

What causes cracks in plaster walls and ceilings?
Cracks in plaster can happen for a few different reasons. One of the most common causes is natural movement in the home over time, especially as timber frames expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity. Settlement in the foundation can also create stress on the structure, leading to small or large cracks. Other causes include water damage from leaks, poor installation, or impact damage from doors, furniture or accidents. While some cracks are harmless and cosmetic, others may point to underlying issues, so it’s best to get them assessed if they keep reappearing.
Can I paint directly over damaged plaster?
It’s not recommended. Painting over damaged or cracked plaster without repairing it first can lead to uneven surfaces, poor paint adhesion and visible imperfections in the final finish. Even small dents or hairline cracks can show through, especially under certain lighting. For the best result, cracks and holes should be properly cleaned, filled, sanded, and primed before painting. This ensures a smooth, even surface that holds paint well and looks great long-term.
How long does plaster repair take to complete?
The time it takes to complete plaster repair depends on the size and extent of the damage. Small dents and nail holes can often be repaired in under an hour, while larger cracks or ceiling repairs might take longer due to drying time between coats. For patches that require multiple layers of compound or sanding, it could take a full day or more to get a perfect finish. Allowing adequate drying and curing time is important to make sure the surface is fully ready for paint.
